Final Year Project – Week 3

Low Poly Modeling

This week I began work on the modeling for all of the main ‘modular’ components of the scene. These are the bulk of my scene which I will build the detail and textures on to.

Above you can see the low poly variants modeled so far – These are the larger scene components and take up more volume and are crucial to the block out so are prioritized over smaller set dressing pieces.

In the image below you can see most of the panels which can be equipped onto the frame of the shipping container. There is still some work to do on these however as the door and damage versions aren’t finished yet.

The majority of the models are very simple but combined together they make up the majority of the screen space. I implemented them into unreal replacing the basic primitive block out – not only to portray the scene more visually but to help motivate myself as seen a creation come together piece by piece keeps motivation and rhythm in the creative process.

(I am aware of the error in the image above πŸ˜€ ) One issue I have had is when baking the lighting is due to the UV’s of some of the objects – this is an easy fix as they haven’t been properly unwrapped – when the high poly variants are produced I will have to make sure they are unwrapped for HP -> LP baking.
